COVID-19 Visitor Access Information for Our Homes in NSW and WA

Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our residents and staff.

We thank you for your continued support during this time. Hall & Prior remains prepared and our staff are confident with our Outbreak Management Plan.

Western Australia

The WA Government has implemented visitor entry conditions at all Residential Aged Care Facilities in Western Australia.

From 3 March 2022, only two (2) visitors per resident per day are allowed into residential aged care facilities, exemptions apply for compassionate reasons.

All visitors are required to:

  • wear a surgical mask both indoors and outdoors;
  • provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and current influenza vaccination; and
  • comply with all COVID-19 screenings and protocols including social distancing.

You are not permitted to enter if:

  • you have returned from overseas or have been in a high risk/quarantine setting in the last 14 days;
  • you have been informed you are a close contact of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days;
  • you do not have an up-to-date influenza vaccination;
  • you have symptoms, including:
    • fever
    • recent history of fever
    • symptoms of acute respiratory infection (e.g. shortness of breath, cough, sore throat)
    • loss of smell or taste

Additionally, quarantine centre workers must wear a face mask and keep 1.5 metres away from other people when visiting residential aged care facilities.

New South Wales

We thank you for your continued support, we understand this has been a difficult time for everyone.

NSW Health advice on 1 November 2021 regarding visitor restrictions for Residential Aged Care Homes can be found here.
A summary of this advice is as follows:

  • Two (2) fully vaccinated people aged 12 years and over plus two (2) children aged under 12 are permitted to visit a resident in a 24-hour period.
  • Visitors aged 12 years and over must be fully vaccinated, or if under 12 years must abide by the following rules:
    • the visit is in an outdoor area;
    • the child should wear a mask;
    • Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) should be arranged prior to a visit.
  • Visits should not be in any inside communal areas. All visitors must wear a surgical mask while visiting indoors.
  • Visitors in NSW are no longer required to provide evidence of having had a 2021 influenza vaccination.
  • Up to two (2) unvaccinated people may visit a resident for an end of life visit. They must always wear surgical masks and the visit must take place solely inside the resident's room. It is strongly recommended where possible that any unvaccinated visitor attending an end of life visit undergo a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) prior to entering the facility.

Visitors are not permitted to enter a Residential Aged Care Home if they:

  • have been to an overseas country of concern in the last 14 days; or
  • have been to any other overseas country (not of concern) in the previous 14 days, unless they:
    • are fully vaccinated and have received a negative PCR test 7 days or later after arrival in NSW; or
    • have travelled overseas as international flight crew in the last 14 days

Residents may leave the facility but must abide by the Public Health (COVID-19 General) Order 2021.

Staff are not permitted to enter an aged care facility unless they have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Staff are still required to wear a surgical mask while in a residential aged care home but are no longer required to wear goggles/face shields unless the home is declared an outbreak and advice from the Public Health Unit must be followed.

Should you require further support at this difficult time do not hesitate to contact Seniors Rights Service on 1800 424 079 or via their website www.seniorsrightsservice.org.au.

Hall & Prior is requesting all visitors to have a Rapid Antigen Test before entering the home.

We will continue to keep you up-to-date with any changes.
