Read more >The residents at Hamersley Aged Care Home had a very special Royal Show experience recently. While the IGA Perth Royal Show was about to start at Claremont Showgrounds, Hamersley had a day of fun and games throughout the home.
Staff members put on lively music and brought out photo props and show bags filled with snacks and treats for the residents. As animals are a major part of the Royal Show, a Farmyard on Wheels brought in rabbits, guinea pigs and baby chickens for the residents to cuddle. A Shetland pony, an alpaca and a calf also met the residents and staff.
The travelling farmyard also brought along hungry baby goats and lambs for the residents to bottle-feed. Many of the residents said how much they enjoyed seeing the range of creatures, as they were reminded of animals they looked after while they were growing up. Everyone had an exciting time with their own in-home Royal Show experience.
