Seven News Media Statement March 2, 2021

There has been recent media coverage on Channel 7 News in Perth in relation to communication with a former resident’s family.

Hall & Prior are committed to open and transparent communications with all resident representatives.

In this specific instance:

  • The Public Guardian was the residents appointed next of kin;
  • There was no record of the resident’s family either visiting the home, nor calling the home in the three months prior to the residents passing;
  • Immediately following the passing of the resident, the Public Guardian (as next of kin) was immediately informed;
  • After learning in the days following that the Public Guardian had not informed the residents brother, Hall & Prior management called the family to pass on our condolences.

Hall & Prior has provided a media statement to Channel 7 News summarising the above and stating that appropriate communication occurred.

We are disappointed that Channel 7 chose to run the story despite knowing that all communication was appropriate.
